A Richter scale 4.7 earthquake was felt in southern Sweden (Scania) at around 630am this morning. This was the "biggest" earthquake in Sweden in a hundred years. I woke up thinking that the house was coming down. Dammit. If it was strong enough to wake ME up, it was strong, I had a guesstimate at 3.2 but I was wrong. (As you can tell I'm obviously shaken, I'm talking like I'm rapping. It f'kin rhymes.) I have "experienced" 2 other earthquakes when I was in Asia in the last 8 years I think, but I slept through them hehehe. They were just tremors, like 2 on the Richter scale. But the one this morning scared me, it was major. I seriously thought the house was coming down, my bed was shaking and I heard my house cracking. Because neither me nor my husband had experienced an earthquake before, we were confused, my husband said "What the f--k" and I couldn't believe myself saying "Earthquake, it's an earthquake." We have just discovered that we live just 10 km away from the epicenter which is in Blentarp so even though we felt only 20 seconds of it, we probably got the worst tremors. I have to check the house for (maybe minor) damages. Nothing inside my house looks obviously shaken though, maybe the Christmas tree got a bit tilted :-p. Slight tremors during this earthquake could even be felt in some parts of Stockholm. No infrastructure damage has been reported so far. In 1904 there was a recorded richter scale of 6 in Gothenburg where some chimneys fell off houses and stone walls crumbled. Oooookay, that's all for now and I'm going back to my hybernation mode. I'll write again only if there's another earthquake LOL. Kidding. |
